Penthouse of Institute of Atmospheric Physics, University of Arizona August 11, 1978

About 4:30AM, a heavy thundershower passed over the U of A campus. The seqence of pictures begins on the roof of the PAS building, but the onset of rain forces relocation to the penthouse--above roof level. The rain was soon sheeting down the windows of the penthouse.. Raindrops are visible in the close lightning strike (Row 4, Panel 1), and distorion of the main channel is apparent in later pictures. Note: the lack of apparent branching in Rows 4 and 5 is due to the heavy rain and not to rain sheeting down the window. (A notable exception is the last pictiure in the sequence, in which the sheeting rain actually obscures the main channel.)
